letter from Pastora Noreen Rabago

Dear Friends,

Hi! I'd like to share with you my burden among our youth today, especially our Wesleyan youth. I believe that you would agree with me when i say that among the many issues Filipino youth faces, making wise choices about sexuality is one of the most critical. The culture we live in is teeming with sexual images, inappropriate messages and dangerous advice about sexuality. And we Christians should do something about it.
I am blessed to be a part of the Working Group: Adolescent Sexuality & Reproductive Health (ASRH) of Philippine Children's Ministry Network or PCMN (where Sis. Rose Oximas is working) which was organized last October 2006. This group addresses the need to educate our churches and community of the critical issues on youth sexuality and advocate sexual abstinence until marriage. Our first step is to present Sex, Lies & the Truth (SLT) of Philippine Ministry on Family Care (PMOFC) among organizations.
Sex, Lies & the Truth (SLT) is an Abstinence Campaign that uses a character-based video curriculum called No Apologies by Focus on the Family. It specifically promotes sexual abstinence until marriage and helps adolescents identify the problems and consequences associated with premarital sexual activity. Its primary goal is to communicate that sex saved for marriage is the safest and healthiest choice. It also teaches teens refusal skills to help withstand pressure from peers to engage in sexual activity, drug and alcohol consumption, and other high-risk behavior.

Recently, there were some churches, schools and student centers that were benefited by this program. And there are others in our calendar. We praise the Lord for the demand of this program. I also wish to give this program among our Wesleyan youth. However, because of the upcoming demands, we are needing more facilitators to help us present the program. That is why I come to you to help us pray for additional facilitators or maybe you could be one of us.
If you are a Christian (just want to be sure...hehe), 18 years old or above, preferably young professional, and has a desire to be a part of this greatest rescue among our youth today (or perhaps you know of someone), please let me know as soon as possible. We are planning to conduct a facilitator's training this May.

Thanks for taking the time to read my letter. God bless you!
