PROFILE:
The Iranuns are A Filipino Muslim group of sea-based people who are very closely related,culturally and linguistically, to both the Maranao and especially the Maguindanao..
Located along the shores of Ilana Bay, particularly in Lanao del Sur and the coastal areas near Cotabato City in Mindanao..Most of the Iranuns are engaged in fishing, while the rest raise food crops along with some active trading with Muslim neighbors..
They have thier own datus and headmen. The headman acts as a mediator of disputes and as a facilitator of discussions and meetings. They also believe in spirits and are in constant fear of them. Thus, there are many rituals that they also observe in addition to Islam.
CHRISTIANITY: less than zero percent, The Iranuns have resisted every effort to introduce Christianity to them. The last few years, however, have seen breakthroughs of the good news among this resistant people group. Several have recently found hope and are sharing this hope to their own people. Despite these breakthroughs, the general attitude towards Christianity is still marked by indifference.
THINGS ONLY GOD CAN DO:
Draw people to Himself.. cause people to seek after Him .. reveal spiritual truht .. convict the world of guilt regarding sin .. convict the worl of righteousness .. convict the world of judgement.
He does these through the Holy Spirit.
Pray with us that the Holy Spirit of God will work powerfully with the workers and work through them and their expressions of love.
Praise God for the believers. Pray that God will keep them strong in their faith and remain in Him.
