Please pray for the Khmers of Cambodia

Profile
The Central Khmer inhabit the western and central portions of Cambodia, and make up 90% of the country's total population. The Central Khmer speak an Eastern Mon-Khmer language called Khmer, or Cambodian. It is the national language of Cambodia.
The Khmer Empire, which flourished between the ninth and thirteenth centuries, encompassed present-day Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and southern Vietnam. Its power declined after being conquered by the Thai and the Vietnamese.
In 1969, Cambodia suffered bombings by the U.S. and invasions by the Vietnamese; events that threw the country into turmoil. In addition, a civil war broke out between the Cambodian government and Communist rebels known as the Khmer Rouge. Possibly three million Central Khmer died between 1975 and 1979, while the Khmer Rouge ruled. Since then, peace talks with the Khmer Rouge have failed, coups continue, and the Central Khmer still live in fear.
What Are Their Lives Like?
In 1975, the Khmer Rouge regime nearly destroyed Cambodia. In order to depopulate cities, three million people were forced into the countryside as slave labor. Starvation led to the deaths of over one million people. Currency was abolished; religion was eradicated; education was suspended; medicine was forbidden; and people who could read were often massacred all in the name of the ideal of rural social reform. Many people fled north to Thailand; others took the trail of tears into Communist Laos. Unfortunately, there they struggled to find clothing, shelter, medical care, and food. Some Khmer found permanent homes; others found shelter in crowded refugee camps.

Before the war, 90% of Cambodia's inhabitants lived in one-third of the country, along the two main waterways and their tributaries. Although the soil there is not fertile, the plains flood every rainy season. The overflow brings an abundance of fish; and when it recedes, leaves rich deposits.
Sadly, bombing, civil war, and war with the Vietnamese decimated a once thriving agricultural economy. Today, most of the Khmer still live in small villages and grow rice in irrigated paddies. Rubber is also important to their economy. Unfortunately, it has been dangerous for the farmers to work the fields since the 1970's (due to land mines). The mines have caused more wounds to the Central Khmer than any other weapon. In 1994, the United States provided military aid to help locate the mines and build new roads.
While the Khmer Rouge ruled Cambodia, more men died than women, creating a skewed sex ratio. Today, women are required to perform duties that were once done by men. They dress in colorful skirts, adding life to their unhappy environment. Red and white checkered cloth is used to make everything from headdresses to pouches for carrying babies.
In the villages, Buddhist rules of conduct maintain social control. These rules forbid lying, stealing, drinking alcoholic, committing adultery, and killing living creatures. Some remnants of traditional culture can be seen in the villages: folk dance, the classical royal ballet, and traditional Khmer music.
What are their beliefs?
The former Khmer Empire was influenced by India, from which it adopted Hinduism and Buddhism. Today, 94% of the Central Khmer are Buddhist, although relics of ethnic religions such as ancestor worship (praying to deceased ancestors) and spirit worship are very important to them.
The Buddhist Khmer also seek the middle path to nirvana, or ultimate peace through gaining merit in this life. Merit may be gained through supporting the construction of Buddhist temples, giving food to monks, and studying in the monastery.
What are their needs?
Although the Bible and other Christian resources are available to the Central Khmer, less than 1% of their population has turned to Christ. They remain a war-torn people in need of true, inner peace. Prayer is the key to reaching them with the Gospel.
Prayer Points
1. Ask the Lord to call people who are willing to go to Cambodia and share Christ with the Central Khmer.
2. Pray that God will grant wisdom and favor to any missions agencies that are currently working among the Central Khmer.
3. Ask the Lord to begin revealing Himself to these precious people through dreams and visions.
4. Pray that God will encourage and protect the Central Khmer who have accepted Jesus.
5. Ask God to use these new converts to reach out and share the love of Christ with their own people.
6. Take authority over the spiritual principalities and powers that are keeping the Khmer bound.
7. Ask God to call forth prayer teams who will begin breaking up the soil through intercession.
8. Pray that strong local churches will be planted among the Central Khmer.

Pls Pray for the Bulang, Blang (Minority grp)
Bulang, Blang of China
Profile Text
The Bulang, also known as the Pula or Samtao, are a significant minority group. Most of them live in the mountainous regions of the Yunnan province, which is located in south central China. One distinguishing feature of the Bulang is the men's practice of tattooing their limbs and torsos.
The Bulang are a multilingual people who commonly speak Dai, Va, and Chinese in addition to their native language, Blang. They live in an area that is characterized by forested mountains, abundant rainfall, and rich soil. Most are farmers, even though they live at heights of between 5,000 and 8,000 feet. Their small farming villages usually consist of 20 to 100 households.
More than eighty percent (71,000) of the Bulang have never once heard the name of Jesus. They are a Buddhist people, groping in spiritual darkness and daily crying out to gods who can neither hear them nor help them. Who will share the Truth with the Bulang?
What Are Their Lives Like?
Bulang farmers raise dry rice, maize, beans, cotton, sugarcane, and Pu'er tea. During the spring, the men dig pits with painted bamboo poles, while the women follow behind them scattering seed. They use neither fertilizer nor machines during the growing season, but rather weed the fields by hand. In September the crops are harvested with sickles.
The Bulang also raise livestock, which are kept on the ground floor of their two-story bamboo houses. They live on the second floor, where a fireplace stands in the center of the main room.
Every day the Bulang women rise early to husk rice and fetch water in bamboo tubes from a nearby river. Afterwards, the villagers depart for their fields where they work until evening. Once back in their villages, some gather around bonfires to visit, while others sit at home in the glow of oil lamps and talk.
Bulang villages were traditionally made up of about 100 households that represented up to a dozen clans, (groups having a common ancestry). All villagers were allowed to work the land, but each clan owned a portion of the land as their possession. If a clan left the village, their portion would become village property. In some areas, private ownership of land was allowed. Today, Bulang villages consist of "exogamous" clans, meaning that they are free to marry people from other clans.
Bulang women are fond of chewing betel nut, the seed of the betel palm. These fruits are gathered before they are ripe, then husked, boiled, cut into slices, and dried. The dried fruit is black or brown, and chewing it temporarily dyes the gums, mouth, and lips an orange-brown color. Stained teeth are considered to be a thing of beauty among the women. In fact, since the betel juice stains are only temporary, the women often artificially stain their teeth black.
Festive occasions are usually accompanied by singing and dancing. The "ring dance" is the most popular among young people. During this dance the girls form a ring around the boys and dance, while the boys sing and imitate tiger leaps towards the girls. The boys are also very fond of wushu, or martial arts. Their dances, such as the sword dance, stick dance, or boxing dance, often reflect this.
What are their beliefs?
The primary religion of the Bulang is Theravada Buddhism, which emphasizes Buddha as a historical figure, the virtues of the religious life, and the authority of the Tripitika. The Tripitika (three baskets) refers to self-discipline, preaching, and discussing doctrine. Buddhists believe that right thinking, ritual sacrifices, and self-denial will enable the soul to reach nirvana (a state of eternal bliss). They also teach reincarnation, and that each person's well-being was determined by his behavior in previous lives.
What are their needs?
No Christian television or radio broadcasts are available for the Bulang. The Bible has not yet been translated into Blang. These precious people must be told that their acts of self-denial will never be enough to pay the price for their salvation.
Prayer Points
1. Take authority over the spiritual principalities and powers that are keeping the Bulang bound.
2. Ask the Lord to call people who are willing to go to China and share Christ with the Bulang.
3. Pray that the doors of China will soon open to missionaries.
4. Ask God to strengthen, encourage, and protect the small number of known Bulang Christians.
5. Pray that God will raise up qualified linguists to translate the Bible into Blang.
6. Ask the Holy Spirit to soften the hearts of the people towards Christians so that they will be receptive to the Gospel.
7. Pray that Christian radio and television broadcasts will soon be made available in the Yunnan province.
8. Ask the Lord to raise up a strong local church among the Bulang.

satan's STRATEGY!!!!!!
Satan called a worldwide convention of demons. In his opening address
he said,
"We can't keep Christians from going to church."
"We can't keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth."
"We can't even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with
their saviour."
"Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is
broken."
"So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish
dinners, BUT steal their time, so they don't have time to develop a
relationship with Jesus Christ.."
"This is what I want you to do," said the devil:
"Distract them from gaining hold of their Saviour and maintaining
that vital connection throughout their day!"
"How shall we do this?" his demons shouted.
"Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable
schemes to occupy their minds," he answered.
"Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow."
"Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to
work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their
empty lifestyles."
"Keep them from spending time with their children."
"As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape
from the pressures of work!"
"Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still,
small voice."
"Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they
drive." "To keep the TV, VCR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in
their home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world
plays non-biblical music constantly."
"This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ."
"Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers."
"Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day."
"Invade their driving moments with billboards."
"Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs,
sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering
free products, services and false hopes.."
"Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their
husbands will believe that outward beauty is what's important, and
they'll become dissatisfied with their wives. "
"Keep the wives too tired to love their husbands at night."
Give them headaches too!
"If they don't give their husbands the love they need, they will
begin to look elsewhere."
"That will fragment their families quickly!"
"Give them Santa Clause to distract them from teaching their children
the real meaning of Christmas."
"Give them an Easter bunny so they won't talk about his resurrection
and power over sin and death."
"Even in their recreation, let them be excessive."
"Have them return from their recreation exhausted."
"Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on God's
creation. Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays,
concerts, and movies instead. "Keep them busy, busy, busy!"
"And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip
and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences."
"Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek
power from Jesus."
"Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their
health and family for the good of the cause."
"It will work!" "It will work!"
It was quite a plan!
The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians
everywhere to get busier and more rushed, going here and there.
Having little time for their God or their families.
Having no time to tell others about the power of Jesus to change
lives.
I guess the question is, has the devil been successful in his
schemes?
You be the judge!!!!!
